There may be situations where it is required to print a PDF with inverted colours e.g. for students with visual impairments.
To invert the colours on the document, follow these steps:
- Open the PDF you want to edit in Adobe Acrobat
- Go to File > Print
- Set Printer > Adobe PDF
- Click Advanced button
- Settings > Custom
- Check that 'Output' on left side selected
- Output: Color: Composite Gray
- Negative Box > Checked
- Click OK
- Click 'Print' and save the new file
- Open and print that new file
The above steps should work, but there can be issues where the colour profile of the specific PDF file is CMYK. Some documents might be saved with a RGB colour profile and some of the options above can be greyed out / unavailable. To convert the document to a CMYK colour profile, see the following steps.
Open the document in Adobe Acrobat
Go to Tools > Print Production
Go to Convert Colors
Choose Document Colors > DeviceRGB and Conversion Profile > Coated FOGRA39
Click OK
