Please follow the steps below when a student reports missing work either after an unexpected shutdown or if ‘Save’ or ‘Save As’ has been clicked but the work has not saved successfully.

 

  1. Open the Office 365 product in which the work was undertaken. In this example Word has been chosen.
  2. Select the ‘Open’ option from the left hand selection. This will give you the screen as shown in fig. 1.
  3. Select ‘Recover Unsaved Documents’. This will open the screen as shown in fig. 2.
  4. Any unsaved documents will appear here as a Word document type. 
  5. If there are no documents available you can select the drop-down menu that may allow you to select 'All Files’. This will show .tmp files to appear, if available, .tmp files can often appear after an unexpected shutdown or restart. These files are not always guaranteed to be recoverable.
